Biber Scordatura Violin Music
October 10 @ 7:00 pm$15
The North Carolina Baroque Orchestra Chamber Players
Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber (1644-1704), was one of the greatest violinists of his generation and remains the undisputed master of the technique called scordatura, or the tuning of the strings of an instrument in a non-standard way. He wrote two volumes of music using scordatura: The Rosary Sonatas for one violin and continuo, and Harmonica Artificiosa for two violins and continuo. The North Carolina Baroque Orchestra Chamber Players will perform works from each of the volumes, bringing this exciting music to life.
