Rewriting our Sacred Stories and Claiming our Belovedness as Children of God
Martha Metzler and Sara Ardrey-Graves
Join us for a 4-week exploration of how our sacred stories change when we confront obstacles and change in our lives, and how God invites us, all the time, to rewrite and claim our own individual sacred stories.
Nov. 3: Mental Health and a New Story: Embracing the story that has found us and the one that we can write.
When we embrace our story, we can truly start experiencing the power we have within it. Licensed counselor Martha Metzler will teach us practices that help us embrace our stories, through self-care, therapy, and graceful empowerment, which show us how each person can thrive within their story.
Nov. 10: Starting Over: Christians who re-wrote their own stories
God’s people are always being called to do things when they are ill-equipped, unprepared and holding to their own false sense of control. The Rev. Sara Ardrey-Graves will share stories of people throughout the Bible and Christian history who learned what it means to rewrite your sacred story, as they started their lives over when God called their names.
Nov. 17: The Rewiring of Time
There is a lot of power in simplification, and practices of subtraction and other spiritual disciplines protect our sacred story. Simplifying our time, stuff, and minds allow us to make space for reflection, true passions, and rejoicing in the redemptive work the Lord is doing in our Story.
Nov. 24: Made a new creation
You can go home again, no matter where your story has taken you, because God is always making things new. When we embrace God’s movement in our lives, we can let go of the expectations we have for the outcomes of our lives. Come learn ways to live as God’s beloved children and fully embrace the sacredness of your own story.
