Throughout Lent, the Rector’s Forum will explore Searching for a Script: The Ethics of Living a Christian Faith. Classes led by the Rev. D. Dixon Kinser and Matthew Phillips will meet in Colhoun A at 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. on Sundays, February 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18 and 25.
Christian ethics is the way we do worship beyond any constraints of time and place. While it might be tempting to see worship as a rehearsal and life as the “real thing,” the opposite is true: a life lived ethically is the way we prepare to worship.
This Lent, we will explore the aspects of prayer, penitence and reconciliation, intercession, offering and witness as they are expressed in the worship service, and see what connections we might make to how we live ethically in the world. Sessions will build on the work of Stanley Hauerwas and the Rev. Samuel Wells. Books by both authors are in the St. Paul’s library and St. Paul’s Bookshop.
