Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. When Dixon asked us to chair the 2018 Annual Giving Campaign, we were honored to be asked and daunted by the task ahead. As we prayed about our roles in the campaign, Laura was quickly inspired that our campaign theme should be “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.” Not only is the “Old Hundredth” one of our favorite pieces of church music, it also speaks very directly to how we feel about our experience during our last 12 years here at St. Paul’s.
We are so fortunate to be a part of this church family and feel deeply that the blessings which have flowed to us from God, the clergy, the staff, and our fellow parishioners are beyond measure. Having the opportunity to lead this campaign and to share with you what these blessings have meant to us is truly an honor. We hope to inspire you to experience these blessings more fully in your own life through faithful stewardship and greater involvement in the many wonderful ministries at St. Paul’s.
Along with our $2.1 million pledge total goal, a key objective this year is to complete the campaign by October 15 to enable the Vestry to budget effectively for 2018. Please make your pledge by that date. We have included a pledge card and confidential reply envelope in this packet and we ask that you either put your completed card, enclosed in the envelope, in the offertory plate during a church service or mail it to the church office. Visit the St. Paul’s website to pledge online.
Another objective this year is to remind everyone that stewardship is not just about pledging money but also about committing to participate in ministries. That’s why we made the Parish Ministry Fair part of the campaign, so all could enjoy fellowship and learn from other parishioners about all of God’s great work at St. Paul’s, made possible only with God’s help and through your volunteer participation and your financial contributions. If you did not sign up to help one or more ministries the day of the fair, we hope you will consider following up with one or more ministry leaders in the coming weeks to pledge your help with the work of the church.
We will celebrate the successful completion of our campaign with a parish-wide event at Janice and Graham Bennett’s river house from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., October 15. We hope to see you there.
We request that you prayerfully consider the ways in which you are able to contribute to St. Paul’s ongoing efforts to use our blessings as God’s hands and feet here on earth. As Dixon tells us every Sunday, this church family is working to help heal the world in Winston-Salem and beyond. Sharing those blessings amongst ourselves and with so many others is a St. Paul’s legacy which we thank you for continuing to make possible.
