St. Paul’s Caring in Community Committee will offer the first session of a three-part spring series, The Art of Self Care for Christians, on Thursday, April 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the parlor. Committee Chair Dr. Elizabeth Allen will lead the session, “Simple Ways Perspective and Perception Can Add Joy to Your Life.”
As Christians, we sometimes overlook the full meaning of the commandment, “love your neighbor as yourself,” and instead act as though God is calling us to love our neighbors instead of ourselves!
Each session in the series will offer an opportunity to connect with others, grow in faith and learn some time-friendly techniques for loving and caring for ourselves. Sessions will also include:
- Scripture reading relevant to self-care
- Time for sharing
- Presentation of a simple technique for shifting into positive emotional and physical states of peace, hope, calm and wellbeing
- Introduction of a gentle, non-verbal technique for prayer
