Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy disciple of Jesus, who asked Pontius Pilate for permission to take Jesus’ dead body in order to prepare it for burial (Matthew 27:57-60; Mark 15:42-46; Luke 23:50-54; John 19:38-41).
