Open Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year will be underway as of February 3, 2023 for our current families.

On February 24, 2023 Open Enrollment will be available to new families. We will start enrolling new families for the 2020-2021 school year at 8:00 am at the preschool office location. Please have your child’s age appropriate application completed and registration payment available when you come for Open Enrollment.

Our goal is to give children a positive start to their education and help them develop character and self-confidence. Our staff and teachers work with children at the ages when they are learning more rapidly than at any other time in their lives. We provide a loving, nurturing environment in which children are our number one priority. We constantly strive to do what is in the best interest of our children, and we eagerly accept and appreciate the responsibility and opportunity that is ours. St. Paul’s Preschool is once again offering Summer Fun for preschoolers—five week-long sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—filled with a rich assortment of themed creative activities, both indoors and out. Enrollment is open to St. Paul’s Preschool students and preschoolers from the community.

• $160/week (5 days) for 2/3’s class and older
• $170/week (5 days) for Camp Kinder Ready
• $190/week (5 days) for Infants and Toddlers
• $120/week (MWF) or $80/week (TTh) for Infants and Toddlers only

Science, Space, Star Wars

Campers will make crazy things happen in science experiments; fly their space ship into outer space and learn about planets, stars, & aliens; and practice being a Jedi!

Week 2: June 8-12

Sports of all Sorts

Let’s see how many sports we can fit into one week! We will have special visits from Soccer Shots and Little Leapers! Come ready to play…your team needs you!

Week 3: July 13-17

Princess & Super Hero Week

Wear your favorite costumes and bring your imagination! Campers will learn about all kinds of heroes…some old favorites and some new ones.

Week 4: July 20-24

Fun Appetit Cooking Week
*($5 fee per child for food/supplies – 2’s & older)

Spend the week in the “kitchen” and learn about basic cooking, cooking tools, and nutrition… AND you get to taste all your creations!

Week 5: August 10-14

Critter Connection

Whether you are on the farm, in your backyard, taking a hike, or at the beach…you will find “critters” everywhere! We will even have some special “critters” make a visit to SPP this week!

Week 5: August 10-14: Camp KinderReady

Camp KinderReady is for children who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2020/21 school year. The theme will be the same as for other campers.

St. Paul’s Preschool recently presented Executive Director Clyde Fitzgerald of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina with several handmade bowls crafted for Second Harvest’s Empty Bowls fund-raising event.

The bowls were made in the Preschool shop and offered for sale at the event’s silent auction. Proceeds from the event help  provide food to more than 300,000 people served by Second Harvest’s partner network as well as special meal programs for children facing food insecurity, including BackPack, Kids’ Cafe, School Pantry and Summer Meal programs.

St. Paul’s recently received a donation to support Page’s Playground from a St. Paul’s Preschool student. “He saved his money to contribute to the project,” said Head of School Karen Norris. “It was his choice.”

On Monday, December 5, the St. Paul’s Preschool’s Stars class for four-year-olds had special visitors. Wake Forest University’s Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach Steve Armas (a Preschool parent) and Wake Forest soccer team midfielder Jon Bakero talked to the students about soccer and the skills needed to score a goal. Jon is from Spain and speaks Spanish.

The team is playing in the NCAA tournament, and students were encouraged to watch and upcoming match on ESPNU on Friday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. If the team wins, they will play for the national championship.

This fall, St. Paul’s is constructing a new upper playground designed for young children. This will replace the existing equipment that has faithfully served our church and community for close to two decades.

The new space will be called Page’s Playground in honor of Page Daniel Hill, who served as Preschool Director and teacher at St. Paul’s for 15 years.

“Momma loved little ones,” said Sally Hill Shore, Page’s daughter and St. Paul’s parishioner. “And, perhaps more than anything else, she loved sharing music and singing with the children of St. Paul’s Preschool.”

Sally and Rosalie Hill Bland, also a St. Paul’s parishioner, recall their mother leading the children in song accompanied by her favorite ukulele. Inside her ukulele case, she would carry three clay mice to serve as a special audience. Those mice – Alexander, Beverly and baby Stephanie – are special keepsakes for the two sisters.

In addition to singing and playing her instruments, Page enjoyed creating unique programs for the children. Her love of the classroom evolved into the writing of two activity books, “Thanksgiving for the Very Young” and “Valentine Fun for the Very Young.”

Music continues to be a touch-point with Page. Sally and Rosalie enjoy hearing her sing a familiar tune that she coined, “Every day at St. Paul’s is better than the day before” - a sentiment as true during Page’s years at St. Paul’s as it is today.

The Preschool Committee has set a fundraising goal for Page’s Playground of $60,000 by October 31, 2016. If you are interested in making a gift, to Page’s Playground, you can donate online using your credit card.

A Message from St Paul’s Rector

If you, your child, or someone you love has attended St. Paul’s Preschool during the past three decades, you have been touched by Judy Ingram’s ministry. As a Preschool alumnus who went on to become Rector at St. Paul’s, I have been doubly blessed as both a student and colleague by Judy’s capable leadership. (That’s me on the back row in my Superman shirt.)

Judy will retire next month after nearly 30 years of service. To honor her, the Preschool Board and I have created The Ingram Scholarship Fund, a need-based financial aid program that will make St. Paul’s Preschool available to more families, regardless of circumstance. While making a high-quality preschool education more readily accessible to those who most need it, the scholarship fund will also help prepare and position St. Paul’s Preschool to thrive for another 30 years.
