From the Diocese of North Carolina:

AS WE CONTINUE TO PRAY the effects of Hurricane Dorian will be minimal throughout North Carolina, we also need to consider those devastated by the storm so far, especially our brothers and sisters in the Bahamas.

As always, we encourage those who want to help to support Episcopal Relief & Development’s Hurricane Relief Fund. This ongoing fund is used to provide help and relief following whatever storm develops, wherever it is needed. Already, Episcopal Relief & Development is hard at work in the Bahamas.

SPECIAL NEED

This particular storm also brings the need for relief even closer to home. More than 60 students at Saint Augustine’s University, Raleigh, call the Bahamas home, and Hurricane Dorian has impacted their families in ways we cannot yet measure as news and updates from the islands are still hindered by spotty communication. We do know there has been horrific flooding along with the destruction of both family homes and commercial buildings.

The Gamma Psi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Saint Augustine’s is working to raise funds specifically for the students’ families affected by the storm. To contribute to this relief effort, donations can be made by check to (make checks payable to “Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Gamma Psi Chapter” and note “Hurricane Dorian Relief” in the memo line):
